Gold karats
Here are some common karats of gold:
• 24 karat: is the highest karat of gold and means that the alloy contains 99.9% of pure gold.
• 22 karat: It is the karat that is commonly used in the jewelry industry, and contains 91.7% of pure gold.
• 21 carat: means that the alloy contains 87.5% of pure gold. Although it is not one of the most common calibers in the jewelry industry, in some countries it is used as a compromise between 18 and 22 karat. 21 karat is used in the jewelry industry in Thailand and Arab countries.
• 18 karat: It is the karat that is commonly used in the jewelry industry in European countries, and it contains 75% of pure gold.
• 14 karat: contains 58.3% pure gold and is used in the jewelry industry in the United States of America.
• 10 karat: contains 41.7% pure gold and is used in the jewelry industry to a limited extent.
It should be noted that the value of gold increases with the proportion of gold in the alloy, and usually higher prices are paid for higher karat gold. It is worth noting that there are also white gold, rose gold, green gold and other colors available, which contain different proportions of gold and other metals.
